WELCOME TO SIMMENTHAL!

In December 2012 Bolton Group officially acquired Simmenthal, an iconic brand and undisputed market leader with a share of almost 70% in the canned meat market in Italy. The brand provides tasty, conve nient and nourishing meal solutions suited to modern life and today’s consumers’ needs. Its range includes canned meat, meat salads, spreads and tripe.
Its original recipe was born in Milan over 130 years ago. Simmenthal has since been part of Italian family meals thanks to its unique taste and top quality ingredients.
The brands also played an important role in the history of Italian communication with famous movie and TV testimonials (e.g. Walter Chiari and Pippo Baudo), memorable commercials (e.g. “Tinsemmhal” and “Mamma”), as well as in sports thanks to famous sponsorships (e.g. Milano Basketball team and Giro d’Italia, the national cycling competition).
The Simmenthal acquisition encompasses the brand, the Aprilia plant near Rome and over 100 employees. Outside of Italy it cultivates a loyal customer base in several markets such as Australia, Belgium and Switzerland, providing real growth potential. This ideal fit into our Food business will be creating synergies in terms of talent and technology in the canned food insutry and strengthening our position in this key segment.
In returning to its Italian roots, Simmenthal has entered a news and exciting chapter of its success story.
