Bolton Commits to the Sustainability and Traceability of Its Tuna Supply Chain
Bolton Group’s tuna supply chain uses an advanced, fully-digitalised traceability system that complies with the ISO 22005:2008 standard. This system assures the traceability of every single can of tuna, from the fishing area to the supermarket shelf.
Our system provides full traceability for every single can of tuna. The fishing batch data include the tuna species, fishing vessel, fishing areas, and methods employed. It also indicates whether fishing took place in MSC-certified areas or whether the fishing batch came from a fishery where improvement practices (FIP – Robust FIP) are implemented to achieve more sustainable fishing. Automatic integration between the Suppliers Portal and internal traceability systems at the Cermenate plant allows automatic printing of information on provenance and fishing methods on the outer packaging at the time of production.
